Fuller House and Homemade Holiday Presents

Fuller House and Homemade Holiday Presents

On December 9th the second season of Fuller House will start streaming on Netflix.  If you are a fan of the sitcom Full House, you will like this show.  It is a spin off of that show.   In this show DJ Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron-Bure) is a widower who moves back to her family home to raise her 3 sons. Her sister Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) moves back home to help her raise DJ’s children. DJ’s best friend Kimmy  Gibbler (Andrea Barber) and her daughter Romana also moves into the house.

Here is how you can watch season 2 on Netflix.

The whole series of Full House is now out on DVD.

If you would like to catch up on season 1 of Fuller House, you can watch it on DVD.

If you are looking for any holiday presents to give your family and friends either of these, DVDs would be great presents for any of who is a fan of these shows.  If you have someone, who loves movies you can also give them a subscription to Netflix.

Another idea would be a present you make yourself.  If you have anyone, who likes to bake then give them what we call a cookie in a jar.  You fill up a jar with all the dry ingredients for a favorite cookie recipe. Then cover it and put a ribbon.  Don’t forget to also include the recipe.  Tape it to the jar.

You can also give someone all the stuff they need to decorate sugar cookies.  Just get a bag of the sugar cookie mix and the frosting and sprinkles then put them in a basket.  Decorate with a ribbon.  Either of these ideas is easy to put together.

Here is a chocolate chip cookie recipe that you can put in the ingredients in the jar and the best way to put both presents together.  Plus all the products you should need.

(1.) Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl.

Gilmore girls a Year in the Life after Thanksgiving Viewing Party

Gilmore girls a Year in the Life after Thanksgiving Viewing Party

The day after Thanksgiving is the long awaited revival of the popular show the Gilmore girls will be released on Netflix. For those of you who are fans you are probably planning a viewing party.  We have some suggestions for food that any Gilmore girls fans might love.

First have you been catching up on the original show on UP TV.  They have been showing a marathon of all the episodes.  You can also watch the show on Freeform.  Netflix has them too.

You can also buy the complete series on DVD from Amazon.com

At your viewing party you might want to serve Gilmore girls show theme food.  It is just like when Lorelai and Rory have a movie night and what they would eat.  Popcorn is always a must have when you watch TV. You could either have pizza delivered or go to your favorite hamburger place and get some burgers and fries.  Any take out would do.  You could also make macaroni and cheese and tater tots. For dessert you can serve PopTarts.  For the adults at your viewing party you can make martinis.

Another idea would be to get delivered to your party.  Remember Rory’s first night at Yale and she made Lorelai spend the night.  Lorelai ’s got food delivered and invited the whole dorm to Rory’s room.  She made everyone rate the service.  You can do that too.   You can always use GrubHub or Postmates.

No Gilmore girl party would be complete without coffee.  That is a must have. Make sure you have a lot on hand.

You might want to check out the town of Star’s Hallow’s website

Enjoy your party and please post pictures to show us how you celebrate.

Here are some more links you might want to check out.

Maxwell House Coffee

Orville Redenbacher's

Dominos Pizza

Pizza Hut Pizza

Kraft Mac and Cheese

Oreida Tater Tots

Election Day and a Movie Night

Election Day and a Movie Night

 http://advicefromroseandlyssamarie.blogspot.com/2016/11/election-day-and-movie-night.html

On Tuesday, November 8th ends a long history campaign for President of the United States of America. People will go to the polls and vote for whom they want to win.  That night they will go home, watch tv and wait for the results.  If you do not want to watch the results, well, we have an alternative idea for that night.  You can always find out results later on.

Why not have a movie night?  Not just any movie but how about a political theme movie.  There are many to choose from that will keep you busy all night.  It will still be keeping with the topic of the day.  Here are some we can suggest:

The American President starring Michael Douglas and Annette Bening

Election starring Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington starring Jimmy Stewart

Since it is Fall how about for snacks some Caramel Popcorn.  You can buy it already made from Orville Redenbacher's or make it yourself from scratch.  It is easy.  Just pop some plain corn and drizzle some Smucker’s caramel sauce on. Any flavor you like will do.

Another snack idea could be a great time to finish any leftover Halloween candy.

We do have one thing to ask of you. Please do not post about the election here.  We find talking about this election only starts fights and we do not want that on our page.  It will get deleted and you will be banned for this page. This is not the place for that.  There are many other places on the internet you can post about the election.  Thank you and we hope you respect our wishes.

Whatever you do that night we do hope you have good time and it is stress free.

A Halloween Movie Night

A Halloween Movie Night

Let’s us be one of the first to wish you all a very Happy Halloween.  To get you in the spirit of this season you might want to watch some movies.  We have some family friendly suggestions for you to chose from if you would like to go out or stay home.

If you want to go out you can go see the new Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween.  That is now out in the movie theaters.  It is rated PG 13 and while it is family friendly you might not want to take real young kids to this.  Here is the link to the official trailer so you can decided if you want to do see it.

Our other suggestion is if you want to stay home then you might want to watch The Addam’s Family movie.  This movie is also rated PG 13.

You also might want to check out Freeform’s 13 Nights of Halloween.

Let’s us know what you decided to do.  Please stay safe this Halloween.

Welcome to Fall, it’s Apple Picking Season

Welcome to Fall.  If you live in the northern hemisphere it is now autumn. This means the leaves are changing to many beautiful colors. Last blog we suggested that you might want to take a road trip at the end of summer but  if you haven’t had a chance to do that yet then you might want to do it now.  If you have maybe you want to go again. Take a drive and admire all the pretty leaves.  You can also take a drive and go apple picking. This is the perfect season to do that then you can come home and do some baking.

Here are some suggestions for the best orchards according to TripAdvisor:

You can also check Yelp.

This is a list of apple recipes according to Pillsbury.

Want to try and bake an Apple Pie, here is Pillsbury’s recipe.  It is very easy.

We hope you have a great time with whatever you decide to do.

Road Trip 2016

This weekend is considered the last weekend of summer even though summer doesn’t officially end for another few weeks.  This used to be the last weekend before school starts but now some schools have started towards the end of August. No matter what it is a three-day weekend.  If you didn’t get chance to take a vacation this summer  this could be your last chance to do so before things get busy again.  If you can’t afford to go far then why not take a quick road trip.  Explore the area where you live. You can drive anywhere from an hour to four hours away.  You  are away from home but still close enough if you need to come home quickly.  Just remember when you are planning this trip to factor in traffic.  Something is normally a four hour drive can be a six hour drive if there happens to be traffic.

The first thing you will need is a paper map. Yes you have GPS apps on your phone but sometimes they fail so always have a paper map as back up so you don’t get lost.  GPS apps like Waze is great to let you know about traffic on our route but it can never hurt to have a paper map in your car. Before you leave you should do some research online of different routes.  You can look on Google Maps Street View to see what your location will look like.  You can also print out directions.  If you want a folding paper map you can always go to your local AAA and get one there. They can also help you plan your trip.

Another thing to take in the car with you is food and water.  Why not plan a picnic lunch. Stop at a nice park along the way that has some tables where you can eat.  Instead of a sandwich why not have a wrap this way there is less of a mess. Always pack snacks for the trip so you don’t have to make many stops.  Yet, do plan on at least one or two rest stops depending on how far you are going. This way people can stretch your legs.  Here is a list of food you should bring with you.

Make sure to take some games for the car that will make sure people are looking out the window instead of their phones or Ipads.  You should play the game Car Bingo or Logo Bingo. These game you can print off your computer. Everyone in the car can play and they will see where they are going instead of looking down at a device and missing what is passing them by. You could also make a license plate game and for each different state plate the people in the car finds they can get money for. Anywhere from 25 cents to a dollar a plate. The people in the  car can split the money at the end of the trip and everyone buys their own presents or you can all buy one that will please everyone.  Anytime anyone fights in the car over who saw the plate first then money is taken away. Anytime someone fights over anything money is taken away.   Here is how to make any of these car games.

The last thing you will want to do is plan some music for your trip. We have a few suggestions.  When picking out the music keep in mind you may have different musical tastes so pick songs from every genre that everyone will like.

Here are some suggestions that you can add to your playlist.

Pool Party, Sleepover and Two Movies

We are in the middle of summer, and if you have children who are home from school we have an activity that could keep them busy and be fun for them.  For those of you that have pool you could have some of their friends over for summer party, a movie and a sleepover. We suggest you invite to this party at least 4 of your children’s friends or at most 8 friends.  This is the one time it is okay to keep it the guest list small so you can keep an eye on every in the pool.  Now if you don’t have a pool you can take them to the beach or a local lake.  Maybe you have a public pool in the area.  If not then how about at water park.  Anything that will cool off everyone from the summer heat.

For lunch you can make a simple BBQ with just hot dogs and hamburgers.  Dinner that night you can serve spaghetti and tomato sauce. You will want to inquire with each parent if their child has any food allergies and what would be best to serve them. You can also have on hand some chicken for those children who do not like hot dogs or hamburgers. If you do this you won’t have any awkward moments when the food is served. Always have fresh summer fruit for snacks.  At dinner you can have an ice cream sundae bar.

Make a whole day of it and have the children sleepover.  At the sleepover you can all watch Finding Nemo.  The next day you can take everyone out to breakfast. Then to go see the new movie Finding Dory. Go to the first showing of the movie.  Other reasons you should keep the invite list small, so this party is more affordable for you.  You will be providing transportation to breakfast and the movie and if you only have one car then you will not be able to have to many children participate in this activity.  If you want to involve more then you can always ask another parent to help you transport the children.  If you do that you should pay for that parent’s meal and movie tickets.

Here is the link so you can find out what Finding Nemo is all about.

Here is the link so you can find out what Finding Dory is all about and where to get tickets.

Here is a shopping list we put together for your party.

Go out there and have a good time this summer.
