Burlesque

Christina Aguilera, plays Ali Rose, a girl with big dreams from a small town in Iowa. Ali works at a Dwight’s Bar,  which is grungy. She looks around and it’s empty.  She tells her co-worker Loretta (Isabella Hofmann) she is leaving as soon as she gets paid. She sees  Dwight (Stephen Lee) leaving the bar. Ali tells her boss that she needs her check. He says, “You will get paid at the end of the month.” She tells him, "You haven't paid us for last month. I need money, Loretta's got a kid." He doesn't care and tells her to complain to management or leave a note in the suggestion box. As he leaves, Ali tells him she isn't kidding that she quits and is leaving. He walks out the door. Ali takes money from the register but Loretta tries to stop her.  Ali says, “She is taking only what he owes her though, not a penny more.”  Ali tries to gives money to Loretta for her kid but Loretta tells Ali to take it.  Ali tells Loretta to leave for the day to go pick up her child that she will be fine alone in the bar.  As Loretta leaves she tells Ali she will see her later. Ali closes the bar and pretends she is singing to a crowd.

Ali gets a one way bus ticket to Los Angeles and finds an apartment.  She hid her money in a plastic bag.  Ali hits the pavement to find a  job. She stops in this alley and sees this dancer named Coco (Chelsea Traille) fixing her tights but then Sean (Stanley Tucci) comes out to say it is her time to go on.  Ali who is curious where there person went comes upon the Burlesque Lounge. She goes in. Alexis, played by Alan Cumming, is the cashier to the Burlesque Lounge. He tells her “We may not have windows but we have the best view on the Sunset Strip.”  He asks her for twenty bucks.  She says “What is the place a strip club?”  He takes offense and says “Honey, I should wash your mouth out with Jagermeister. The only pole you will find in there is Natasha the shot girl.”  He insists she pays and she hands him her money.

Ali sits at the bar and is mesmerized as she watches the dancers and Tess, played by the incomparable Cher. Tess is the owner the club.  Jack (Cam Gigandet) the bartender starts talking to Ali.  Ali asks Jack, “Who she needs to flirt with to get on stage at this club.”  He shows her the way and tells her to use his name.

Ali goes backstage to where everyone is getting ready for the next act.  Tess who  is talking to Sean and dealing with all the problems of the dancers when her ex-husband Vince (Peter Gallagher) comes up to her asking if she saw the letter from the bank.  She tells him, No business during business hours.”  He informs her Marcus Gerber (Eric Dance) an important businessman wants to buy the club. She doesn't care and they fight.  Vince tells Tess that she is avoiding him. She tells him, That she didn't divorce him to spend more time with him.  He says, “He may not be “Mr. Tess” anymore but he still owns half the place.”  She laughs at him calling himself “Mr. Tess.”  He says, “Nice, but it won’t pay the bills.”  Tess walks away.

Ali asks Sean where Tess is. He points Tess out to Ali.  Ali asks Tess for job and says she is friends with Jack. Tess asks her where she has danced before. When Tess finds out that Ali has no experience she tells Ali to leave her name an number with Sean.  Then Tess ask Sean where Nikki (Kristen Bell) is. Sean says, “She is late.”  Nikki is the lead in the show. Ali tells Tess, "She is never late.”  Sean tries to get Ali to leave.  Sean says, "She has great enthusiasm but terrible timing.”  Tells her to leave her number with her friend  Jack and they will get back to  her.  Just then Nikki stumbles in. Tess threatens to fire Nikki. Nikki said that, “Her mani and pedi took longer than it should.” Nikki tells Ali to get her a martini. Another dancer tells Nikki that Ali doesn't work here. Nikki says, "Then she isn't busy so she can get her a drink."  Ali stares at Nikki.  Nikki says, “Didn't your mama ever tell you it's not polite to stare?” Ali says, “ You,you're just so damn beautiful, I...”  Nikki says, “Well in that case, screw your mama and stare away.” Ali says, “No one would *ever* know.” Nikki answers back, “Know what?” Ali says, “That you're a dude.”  Ali leaves the dressing room.

Downstairs, Jack is having trouble with a waitress who isn’t doing her job. Ali sees that and picks up a tray and starts waiting tables.  Jack asks Ali  what she is doing.  Ali begs him to give her a chance.  He does. Ali begins working as Georgia (Julianne Hough) comes on stage for the “Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend” number.  As she is working Ali watches the performance.  Jack watches Ali.  Tess and Sean are now sitting at the bar when Tess notices Ali waiting tables. She asks Jack why Ali is working there.  Jack says, “She really wanted the job.” Tess asks Jack, “When she made him head of personnel.”  Jack says, “Ali picked up a tray and started working.”  Tess calls her over unbuttons Ali shirt a little more and tells her not to go behind her back again.  Ali says, "Yes, Ma’am" Tess tell her “Don’t ever call me Ma’am again.”  Ali is flustered and says, “Yes, sir. I mean ma'am. I mean Tess” Tess tells her to get on the floor.  Tess tells Sean, “Ma’am?  What am I my mother?”  Sean jokingly says, “Yes.”

While waiting on customers, Ali, is imitating the dancing she sees on stage.  She gets stopped by Marcus who tells her to tell Nikki that he is there.  Ali asks him who he is.  He says as he shows her his card “A member since ‘91.”  He ask who she is.  She tells him.  Ali leaves.

Backstage Nikki who finally is ready for the show is informed by Sean that she is late and that Georgia went on for her.  As Nikki looks on stage to see Georgia, she also sees Ali waiting tables and asks “Sean why Ali is here.” Nikki tells Sean that she wants Ali out, “She called me a drag queen.”  He tells her, “It can’t be the first time.”  Nikki tells the light person to get her spot.  Sean tries to stop her from going on stage but it is too late. Nikki goes on stage to take her part even though Georgia is there.  They both are now the lead fighting for the spotlight.  As that is happening, Ali daydreams she is the one on stage, not them.  As it ends, Nikki pushes Georgia backstage so she can take her bow alone.

Jack, startled Ali out of her daydream by asking her what drinks does she needs. She asks him who Marcus is.  Jacks says, "He is real estate guy who is dating Nikki, at least for this week."  Ali tells Jack of her desire to be up on stage.  Jack asks if she has any talent.  She says yes.  Then says jokingly good cause you are on.  Hands her tray with the drink order.

Marcus and Vince have a meeting with Tess about her club.  Marcus tells Tess he will buy her out.  Tess tells him, “She thought it would be a partnership.”  Marcus tells her, “I don’t like partnerships.”  Tess ask Marcus why does he want her  club so badly.  He says, “He likes it and when he sees things that he like he wants them and he has been that way since he was kid.”  Tess tells him, “That must have made you very popular in the sandbox.”  He says he did okay.  Vince asks her does she know what she can do with that money.  She doesn’t care.  Marcus informs her she has balloon payment due.  Tess is mad at Vince that he told Marcus. Marcus says, “If she takes this money they will all come out winners.”  Tess thinks for a minute but says, “No.”  Vince tell Marcus that, “She means not now.”  Tess says, "No, not now means, not now but no means no."  Ali overhears Tess tell Marcus that no matter what he is offering her club isn't for sale.  Marcus says that offers on the table.

Ali bring the dancers the drinks to the dressing room.  Tess asks, “Which one is for Nikki?” Ali replies, “Both.”  Nikki comes up and says that is her shot. Tess drinks the drinks and says “Here is mud in your eye.”  She tells Nikki to go get ready for the show.  Nikki says, “What are you my mother?” They both walk away.  Sean tells Tess that Vince was talking to Marcus. Tess replies, "Marcus wants to buy the club." Ali comes up to Tess and asks why the girls lip sync except for Tess.  Ali suggests wouldn't it be great if all the girls sing.  Tess says, “No.”  Sean says, “People come here to watch the dancers dance and lip sync to the great singers.”  Ali says, "I understand that but asks why can’t they try something different.”  Tess says, “You know why you can’t understand it’s because above your pay grade.”  Ali keeps pushing her idea.  Tess tells Sean to remove her.  He tells her to get back on the floor.  Ali leaves.

Ali comes home to discover her apartment was broken into. They stole all her money.  When Jack arrives on his motorcycle at his apartment to find Ali on his doorstep. Jack comforts Ali and asks her into his apartment.  He offers her the use of his phone so she can call anyone to tell them she is okay but she says she has no one. Ali asks if she can spend the night so she can figure out what she will do next. He says it is alright.

While trying to sleep on the couch.  She hears Jack playing his piano.  She asks him, “Who wrote that?”  He says, “He did but that it is not ready to be heard.”  Ali asks Jack, “Why did you leave Kentucky?”  He asks her why she left Iowa. She replies, “That she looked around and saw that there was not one person’s life that she wanted.”  He says, “Exactly.”  She tells him she is happy she doesn't have to be alone tonight.  He tells her to get some sleep.

The next morning, Ali makes breakfast.  She sees a picture of Jack with a girl and asks if that is his sister. He says no it is his fiancé.  Ali feels awkward upon finding out that Jack is straight and engaged. She says she should go put on some pants and should really leave. Ali had left Jack's apartment and it is raining cats and dogs.  Jack goes out after her and tells her to come back in. She said she will be fine.  Jack lifts her up and brings her back in. He says he has a couch and she can stay a few days.  Then the phone rings and it is his fiancé Natalie.  He talks to her.

Back at the club, Tess walks in the bathroom and sees Georgia throwing up.  Tess says, “Please don’t have the flu.” Georgia with a sad face shakes her head no. Tess not happy then says, “Please have the flu.” Georgia says, “Why do they call it “Morning Sickness” if it hits you every moment of the day?” Tess asks, “Did you tell your boyfriend yet because at some point he will notice.” Georgia says, “He won’t he is a guy. He won’t notice till her belly is blocking the TV.” Tess asks her what she is going to do. Georgia says she doesn't know and admits to being scared. Tess says don’t be scared that no matter what they will take care of her. That she really needs to tell her boyfriend. Georgia says that she figured if he doesn't know that she can still pretend he will be excited about it.  Tess says don’t worry he will be thrilled.

Auditions are held to replace Georgia.  Tess wonders what happened to all the great dancers in LA.  Sean says, “They’re Dancing with the Stars.”  Just as they look at all the photos, music begins to play. It is Ali dancing on stage.  Tess wonders what she is doing and tells Dave (Terrance J) to cut the music. Ali begs and says “Hold on a second I can do this.”  Tess condescendingly says , “And I think it is sweet that you think you can”Ali begging for a chance says, “Tell me what you are looking for.” Tess now getting angry says, “Someone who can do the routine.” Then Tess walks away. Ali, screams “Excuse me, I’m talking to you!”  Tess turns around. Ali again says, “Just tell me what you want.” Tess pissed off says, “I can’t tell you! Nobody can tell you! You gotta make me believe you belong up there! That you own that stage and no one is going to take it from you! That’s the way it works! You want to show me something show me that!”  Ali says, “Alright which number do you want to see. I know them all.”  Tess doesn't believe her.  Again Ali asks, “Which one.”  Tess says to Dave “Wagon Wheel Watusi.” Before Ali starts everyone starts to enter the club and stops to see what is going on stage.  Nikki asks what is going on.  Ali does an amazing job.  Sean says to Tess he couldn't keep his eyes off of her.  Tess says to him, “Try Harder.”  Tess tells Ali she was off the whole last half.  Ali pleads to Tess that she will practice till she bleeds.  Tess says to Sean that they have better dancers.  Sean tells Tess to say thank you very much and say goodbye.  Ali still pleading to Tess asks if anyone ever gave her a shot in life.  To shut Ali up, Tess gives her the job.  Ali earned her way on stage.

Georgia begins to applaud and Nikki asks, “What are you excited about because Ali is her replacement.”  Ali thanks Tess and says, “You won’t regret it.” Tess says to Sean that, “She will regret this.”  Sean walks on stage and asks, “What Ali is short for?” She says, “Alice.” Sean says, “Welcome to wonderland.”  Then tells her to meet him upstairs in five.  Jack comes over to Ali and says, “Sorry for the short notice but I quit and that with my raise I’ll be off your couch soon.”

While Tess is watching Ali on stage Sean says to Tess that she needs to admits that she likes her. Tess denies it because Ali pulls focus away from the other dancers and doesn't blend in.  Sean jokingly says, “a girl that doesn't blend in. Oh my” Tess gets pissed tells him that is so beneath him.  She walks away.  Sean hands the dancers their robes. He asks Ali how she is.  She says “My boobs are pushed up to my ears, my thong is mile up my butt and my eyelashes are so thick they could pick up a stiff wind.”  Sean says “It’s fun being a girl.”

In the dressing room one of the girls suggest they all go grab a pizza but they leave without Ali.  Sadden, she sits down and looks at the photo attached to her mirror and begins to put on makeup.  Tess walks in and asks, “Where did everyone go."  Ali tells her, “They went out for pizza but she wasn't hungry.”  Tess tells Ali that her, “The brush isn’t working because it is old.” Ali says, “It’s the only brush she has.”  Tess hands her own brush. She begins to show how to apply makeup and talks about her mom. Tess’ mom was a model and before she would leave for work her mom and her friends would come over every morning to put on make up. That is how Tess learned to put on makeup.  Tess ask Ali, “Did your mom ever showed her how to put on makeup?” Ali said, “No, that my mom died when she was 7.” “That this is my first lesson.”  Tess tells Ali that, “You won’t be the new girl forever.”  Tess continues to put makeup on Ali. When she is done Ali looks in the mirror and see how beautiful she looks.

Back at the apartment, Jack gets out of the shower looking for a towel but all he finds is stockings. He finds his towel on the floor.  He wakes Ali up and yells at her for using his towel.  He asks her, “How is your apartment hunting is coming.”  She says, “I am looking but everything is too expensive.” Then his fiancé calls. He goes in the bedroom to talk to her. When he comes out his attitude changes about Ali moving out.  He says, You can stay if you pays rent.”  Ali asks, “What is different now?”  He says, “He likes to help a friend that is in trouble.” She doesn't buy it and asks what Natalie had to say.  He says, “Not much just that Natalie’s play got extended and has to pay everything there so he has to pay everything in California.”  He tells Ali if she wants to stay around and chip in, it would help.  Ali laughs and says, “Look at that one minute I’m a freeloader the next I am only thing standing between him and eviction.”  He says, “Just say yes or no.” Then they bargain.  He says, “600 a month and half a closet.”  She wants the bedroom and the whole closet.  It is a deal.

Later that night Tess think Nikki is too drunk to go on.  She tells her Ali will go on for her that she is to go home. Instead of going home she goes to Dave and lies to him that Tess wants to see him. He says he can’t because he is working but he goes anyway leaving Nikki alone with the sound equipment. Just as the “Tough Love” number begins Nikki pulls the plug leaving them without vocals to lip sync to.  Tess comes to the side of the stage to see what happened and sees Dave.  She asks him, “What is going on?” He says, “Nikki said Tess  wanted to see him.” They argue.  Sean says to lower the curtain but Ali begins to sing a capella.  Tess says to raise the curtain.  Ali is a hit and a show stopper.  Nikki is angry her dirty trick backfired on her.  Ali gets a standing ovation by everyone in the audience.

Tess is very impressed by Ali's a capella singing. She tells Ali that she never told her she could sing like that. Tess tells Ali and all the dancer she decides to make a show around Ali.  Nikki goes up to Tess and reminds her that she says, “They don’t come to hear the dancers sing.”  Tess tells her, “They will come to hear Ali sing.”  Ali still on cloud 9 and thanks Sean for not bringing the curtain down.  Sean said it was Tess who did that he was closing the curtain.  Ali begins to cry because she is so happy.  After Sean leaves Nikki comes up to Ali and says “clearly one of us has underestimated the other.”

Ali walks out into the club when Marcus tells her he is amazed that Tess has her buried in the kick line. Ali tells him that she didn't know she sang.  Marcus tells her she is way too good to be doing it here. He asks to buy her a drink.  She points to the bar and tells him the bar is over there and to tell Jack she sent him. Then walks away.

Later after the club is closed Jack says to Ali, “Where the hell did that come from tonight?” “Who knew you could do that?” Ali thanks him.  Coco tells her she is amazed too. Sean asks, how she do you do that?"  Ali says she doesn't know. It just happens. I just do it.  Georgia says she knows how that feels and that she has to pee again.  She leaves.  Then Coco tells Ali they are going to get something to eat and asks her if she wants to join them.  Ali says yes.  They leave.  Sean sees Jack gazing at Ali and calls him out on it.  Jack reminds Sean that he has a fiancé.  Sean says, “Yes you do but  she is 3000 miles away.”  Jack says, “They still talk everyday.”  Sean wonders what they say to each other then says “Let me guess, don't tell me, about her and . . . her. And, I don't know. . . Her.  All I'm saying is that, that one there is beautiful on the inside as well and she's not going to be available forever.”  Jack says, “Relationship advice from Mr. “One-Night-Stand” himself.”  Just then Ali comes back because she forgot her purse and wonders what they are talking about. Sean says, “I was just telling Jack here how every opportunity has a shelf life.”  Sean tells her to come here and plays with her hair.  He said she would look better with short hair.  Ali said she won’t cut her hair.  Sean said who said you need to cut your hair. You could wear a wig, I am wearing one right now.

The next day as Ali is doing her show Jack is at the bar admiring her. After she is done with her number she goes over to Jack to ask his opinion on her new look.  Jack can’t get the words out.  Ali frustrated with him says “Jack, we're friends, for christsake. It's not like we're brother and sister!” then she walks away. He says “No, we certainly are not.”

Nikki is jealous of Ali and shows it a comment that she makes that goes, "I don't get why everyone is having a conniptions over her.  She's just a tacky farm girl from Iowa". Ali was behind her when she made this comment to which she replied, "And we know a cow when we see one."  "Don't underestimate us farm girls".

Marcus is talking to Vince in the club and tells him he will double his offer to buy the club.  Vince says it is either him or the auction house. Vince then takes it to Tess who still says she won’t sell it. He reminds her about the loan and she could default on it. He asks where the money going to come from. Tess tells him that Ali is hit and she will raise the price to get into the club to $50. He tells her that is not enough.  That he loves this club too.  Tess tells him no he doesn't. That he needs to tell Marcus no.

Back at the apartment, Ali is getting dressed when Jack walks in.  She asks him to zip her up.  She asks him where he has been. He said that he was writing music.  She asks to hear it but he says it is not ready yet.  Then he notices a picture of her and asks, “Who it is?”  She tells him, “It is her mom at her 7th birthday and she died a few weeks later.” He says, “She must miss her.” She says “Every single day something happens that I wish I could tell her about” He asks, “What happened today?” She says, “Nothing yet.”  They look at each other just as the phone rings.  It is his fiancé.  He talks to her.

Ali continues to be big hit at the club.  One day Georgia stops by to tell everyone she is getting married.

One night after the show Ali is ready to go but Jack neglected to tell her he had to do inventory that night.  He offers to call her a cab.  She said no that is okay and she will get a ride with Coco.  Just then, Marcus comes over to tell her Coco left and he will drive her home.

When they are in his car she notices that she is not on the way to her apartment. He said he was going to buy her dinner too.  Then tells her he remembers he has to make an appearance at a party and does she mind. She said if she did would it matter besides he is dating Nikki.  He said they are just friends. She tells Marcus where she comes from friends don’t chew on each other earlobes.

At the party, Marcus starts taking food and alcohol. Ali tells him to stop but he doesn't. They start walking and he introduces Ali to some of his friends. Ali admires the lady’s Louboutins shoes.  One of Marcus friends thanks him for a good party. Then Ali realizes it is Marcus’ house. He tells Ali that was Greg who is an editor for the NY Times and Marla is a designer. She tells him how much she loved her shoes.  Marcus shows Ali the view from his house and explains that it costs him a lot because he paid for the air above the strip mall so that no one will built above one story. “This way he has the second best view in LA.”  She thinks it a cheesy line and asks him how many girls he has used that line on. He said none who have ever called him out on it.  Marcus asks her what she wants in life. She asks him why she should tell him. He says “Because you're talented enough to get whatever you want and I'm smart enough to help make it happen.”

The next day a package shows up for Ali at the club. She opens the card that reads, “To the best view in LA.” Marcus bought Ali the shoes that she liked.  All the dancers admire the shoes but Nikki snipes “Who’s the sucker?” Sean tells the dancers to get back to getting ready and calls Ali, “Ali Cat.”  Ali says, “My Nana would call me that.”  Sean sarcastically says, “Did she really?” “That is so fascinating.”  Nikki asks why she doesn't have a nickname.  Coco replies that she does. Nikki wonders why no one ever uses it. Sean says, “We do when you leave the room.” She walks out and under his breath Sean says “Slut.”  Nikki heard that and didn’t like it.  Sarcastically,  Sean apologizes.  Again, in a hurry the girls to get ready.

Back at the apartment, Jack is working on his music as Ali walks in. He says she was out late last night. She tells him she was at a party with Marcus.  He also notices her new shoes. Jack says that there is only one reason that a man gives a women new shoes. Ali says so what does it matter if she is getting “some male attention.” Jack who jealous says, “More than just a little.” She says, “Not from anyone that matters.”  Jack tells her to be careful.  Ali tells him, “And I think that if you really feel the need to tell a girl what she should and shouldn't do you should pick up the phone and call your fiancé.”

After the show the dancers are admiring the write up about Ali in the LA Times.  Even Tess sees it and throws away the final notice letter from the bank.  Coco tells Ali that Marcus is asking for her.  Ali goes over to Marcus’ table. Marcus introduces her to Harold Saint.  Ali knows who this is.  He worked with Etta James. Harold tells her how she has a set of pipes on her too.  Sean goes over to Jack, who had been watching Ali talk with Marcus and Harold, and says, “You snooze, you lose.” Tess notices Ali talking with Marcus.  Tess tells Sean they got another notice from the bank. That even though they are SRO, she would have to fill Dodger Stadium to make the payment.  She has to come up with an idea how to do it.

In the dressing room, Tess tells her that the photo in the newspaper is good.  Ali said she doesn’t think she will ever get used to being in a newspaper.  Tess tells her you might just have to.  Tess then says, “You know, I don't wanna come off like the wise old fairy godmother but maybe you could learn from my mistakes.”  Ali asks what she means.  She tells Ali “You gotta learn who are the people that you can trust and who are the people who really like you for you and who are the people who just want something from you.” Ali asks her, “You don't like Marcus, do you?” Tess says, “No, I don't. I don't like him. I don't trust him. I don't think you should trust him.” Ali says, “But is that really what's best for me or what's best for you?” Tess says, “I don't know. I hope it's best for both of us.”  Ali leaves then Sean come over to give Tess some costumes to repair.  Sean reassures her that “Ali isn’t going anywhere.”

As Tess is leaving the club, Dave tells her he found the track she was looking for and asks if she wants to rehearse.  Even though she is exhausted she sings, “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me.”  When she is done singing she realizes she isn’t done fighting yet.

Nikki is waiting for Tess in the parking lot. Nikki is very angry and tells her that she help Tess build this club.  That Ali hasn’t paid her dues.  Tess said you don’t know what dues she has paid.  She says, “This chick doesn't sing that way because she's had it easy.”  Nikki reminds her again that she was told they don’t come to club to hear them sing or is that bullshit now. Tess says Nikki is drunk and should go call a cab. Nikki yells, “I will not be upstaged by some slut within months!”  Tess tells her to leave.  Nikki said, “You would ruin our friendship over this.  So much for loyalty.”  Tess said “Since when do you know about loyalty.”  “How many times have you show up drunk?  I have more important things to worry about than you. I am about to lose my club.”  Nikki said “Fine I quit.”  Then Nikki gets in the car to drive away.  Tess tells her, “Don’t drive, call a cab.” Before Nikki drives away she tells Tess she slept with Vince the night after their honeymoon. Tess takes a tire iron out of her trunk and breaks Nikki’s passenger window.  Nikki calls her a “crazy bitch” and drives away.

When Ali gets home she finds Jack asleep in the bed.  She closes the door and goes to sleep on the couch. The next day at 6 am,  Jack wakes Ali up by using the coffee grinder.  He asks her if she wants coffee but he she says no just peace and quiet.  He tells her she is a little overdressed for breakfast.  She said that since the bedroom was occupied she couldn't get her pajamas . They start to argue.  He said, “Since she is never home he thought it was stupid for him to sleep on the couch.” She asks him if he wants the bedroom back. She also tells him, “That she is home every night. Maybe not at the time he thinks and the last time she checked that he is her roommate not her mother. But since it is an issue he can have the bedroom back and she just has to get her stuff out of it.” He angrily says, “It is a total mess in there, and her stuff is everywhere.”  She asks him, “What his problem is? Is there something he wants to tell her?”  He says, “It is not just her but everyone.  That everyone at the club are like family. That they are worried and they all look after everyone.”  She says, “Sure they do like Vince looks after Tess and Nikki looks out for everyone.” He asks, “If Marcus will look out for her.” Then says, “Sure make a deal with the devil.”  She says that, “Marcus is not the devil that he is a smart businessman who oddly is a gentleman who knows what he wants and goes for it.” Jack says, “Life is like choices you make.”  She says, “The choices I make? You're a bartender-slash-piano player who writes songs that are never ready.“  He walks out of the room and she throws a pillow.  He tells her to not destroy the apartment.

At Georgia’s wedding, Jack is on the phone fighting with his fiancé finding out why she isn't there. Asks her why is every conversation about her future.  He spots Ali and says to his fiancé, “Maybe I should think about my future.”  Nikki, at the bar asking who is paying for the wedding.  The guy says, “Damon’s Dad is loaded.”  She then asks if the Dad is single then says she is kidding.  Jack is drinking at the bar when Ali comes over and tells him he looks lonely. He says “Liberated, maybe, libated, definitely. But lonely, no. Never lonely.”  Then he starts to come on to Ali.  She pushes him away and asks if they are still in Junior High.  He asks if she is still mad at him.  She asks him if he is drunk.  Then his favorite song comes on and he screams. She walks away but he goes after her.  He apologies and tells her he broke up with his fiancé.  Tells her that is why he is alone at the wedding and asks why she is alone?  She says she isn't alone. Then they dance.

To see what happens next you should go watch the movie.  You will really enjoy the next scene. That is going to be one hint.
