Happy Halloween and Little Shop of Horrors

We want to wish you a Happy Halloween!!! We hope you are able to have a fun time.  For those of you who are going trick-a-treating have a great time.  Hope you get a lot of candy.  For those of you who can’t or maybe don’t have children to take trick-a-treating, but you can still celebrate with a movie party night.  This year’s Halloween movie suggestion was inspired by Carpool Karaoke we saw a few months ago with Ariana Grande and Seth MacFarlane singing “Suddenly Seymour” from “Little Shop of Horrors.”  We think you should have a movie party and show everyone the movie Little Shop of Horrors.”

The original Little Shop of Horrors movie premiered in 1960's and was not a musical. Then in the 1980's it was made into a Broadway Musical. Later in 1986 that musical was made into another movie that starred Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene and Steve Martin. We suggest you watch that 1986 movie. It is a good movie for a Halloween night because for some it could be considered a horror movie for those who don’t like too scary a movie.  It is also good for those of you who like musicals.

Little Shop of Horrors is about a shy flower shop assistant Seymour pines for co-worker Audrey. During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After Seymour feeds Audrey's boyfriend, Orin, to the plant after Orin's accidental death, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant.

You should can friends over for dinner and serve a simple fall meal. This is the season the season for apple picking so we have apple inspired meals.  You can make a “Crispy Chicken with Apple Salad” and we found this recipe on the Betty Crocker's website.  Then for dessert, an “Apple Cinnamon Cake” and we got this recipe on the Duncan Hines’ website.  Both are easy to make and taste very fantastic.  It is also great for a little dinner party.

Let us know what you did for Halloween and if you watched the movie we suggested.  Whatever you do we hope you have an amazing night.

2017 NEW TELEVISON SEASON

This month we would like to discuss the new Fall TV season. With the new TV season comes a whole bunch of new  TV shows that you can choose to watch.  We want to tell the shows we are going to watch and see if they are on your list of shows that you are looking forward to seeing too.

First of all we are looking forward to seeing two of the new rebooted shows. “Will and Grace” will be back on NBC on Thursday nights.  Then there is “Roseanne” that is now in pre-production.  That will air on ABC. We were fans of the original series and are curious what they will do in the new version of both these shows.

11 years after their season finale Will and Grace is back on NBC on Thursday Night at 9:00 p.m.. Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally reprise their infamous roles as Will, Grace, Jack and Karen in this exclusive 12-episode event.

The next show from the past that will be coming back is “Roseanne” This show is back on ABC. The revival of the popular 1990s sitcom "Roseanne," which centered on the everyday life of an American working-class family. Original stars Roseanne Barr (Roseanne), John Goodman (Dan), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (D.J.), and Lecy Goranson (Becky) will appear on the show, which will also feature Sarah Chalke (who played Becky in later seasons) in an undefined role.  It is in pre-production so we don’t know many details of the new version of this show.

Another one of the ABC shows that we are looking forward to seeing is “The Mayor” because it looks like it will be funny. This show will air on Wednesday nights at 9:30 p.m..  From the ABC’s website, this show is about a young rapper  Courtney Rose (Brandon Micheal Hall) who needs his big break. For years, he's toiled away in a small inner-city apartment, making music in his junk-filled bedroom closet. Tired of waiting for opportunity, Courtney cooks up the publicity stunt of the century: Running for mayor of his hometown in California to generate buzz for his music career. Unfortunately for Courtney, his master plan goes wildly awry, ending in the most terrifying of outcomes: An election victory. With the help of his mother (Yvette Nicole Brown) and friends, including Valentina (Lea Michele), Courtney will have to overcome his hubris if he wants to transform the struggling city he loves.

The next ABC show we think looks interesting is “The Good Doctor.”  This show will air at 10:00 p.m. on Monday nights. From the ABC website, here is what they have to say what this show is about, Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore), a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, relocates from a quiet country life to join a prestigious hospital's surgical unit. Alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, Shaun uses his extraordinary medical gifts to save lives and challenge the skepticism of his colleagues

“Kevin Probably Saves the World” is another ABC show that we would like recommend to you to watch. It is on Tuesday nights at 10:00 p.m.. ABC says this show is about, Kevin Finn (Jason Ritter), a cluelessly self-serving person, is on a dangerous path to despair. In a downward spiral, Kevin returns home to stay with his widowed twin sister (JoAnnaLGarcia)  and niece (Chloe East). On his first night there, an unlikely celestial being named Yvette (Kimberly Hebert Gregory)  appears to him and presents him with a mission – to save the world.

The first CBS new show we like to tell you about is, “Me, Myself and I.” If you enjoy NBC’s “This is Us,” you may enjoy this one.  This show airs on Monday nights at 9:30 p.m.. According to CBS,  “Me, Myself & I” is about the life of Alex Riley at 3 different times in his life. Alex as14-year-old boy in 1991 (Jack Dylan Grazer), he and his mom move from Chicago to Los Angeles when she remarries. Then in present day, 40-year-old Alex’s (Bobby Moynihan) life has hit both a personal and professional standstill. Lastly in 2042 at 65, Alex (John Larroquette) has a realization that to be truly happy, he has to step away from his successful company and get back to his passion . . . inventing. Through these pivotal periods, where the past informs the future, we see Alex handle the moments with determination, emotion and lots of humor.

The next CBS show we would suggest you watch is, “9JKL.” This show airs on Monday Nights at 8:30 p.m.. According to CBS, it is a comedy that stars Mark Feuerstein in a family comedy inspired by his real life. Josh Roberts is a new divorcé and actor between projects who moves home to New York to regroup, living in an apartment sandwiched between his doting, meddlesome parents (Elliott Gould and Linda Lavin)  on one side and his brother (David Walton), sister-in-law (Liza Lapira) and their new baby on the other.

The next CBS show we would like to tell you about is a spin off show. Now if you watch “The Big Band Theory” you should like the show “Young Sheldon.”  It is on Thursday nights at 8:30 p.m.. This is show takes place in 1989, and we meet nine-year-old Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage), who has skipped four grades to start high school alongside his less-intellectual older brother (Montana Jordan.) We get a peek into the formative years, with voiceover from Jim Parsons as adult Sheldon, of a scientific genius who is misunderstood by his family, classmates and neighbors. His mother (Zoe Perry) preps him with what she thinks is the only tool he’ll need to survive at his new school: remind bullies that his dad’s (Lance Barber) the football coach and his brother plays on the team. His twin sister (Raegan Revord), who’s happy to stay in fourth grade, has a better sense of what awaits Sheldon than he does. Young Sheldon may understand Newtonian physics, but his blue-collar, church-going family only cares if that knowledge will help them win a football game.

The last CBS show we want to suggest you watch is “Wisdom of the Crowd.”  This show is on Sunday at 8:00 p.m.. According to the CBS’s website, “Wisdom of the Crowd” is a drama about a visionary tech innovator who creates a cutting-edge crowdsourcing app to solve his daughter's murder, and revolutionize crime solving in the process. Inspired by the notion that a million minds are better than one, Silicon Valley entrepreneur Jeffrey Tanner (Jeremy Piven), develops "Sophe," an online platform for publicly shared information he's certain will find his daughter's killer. To assist him, Tanner recruits Detective Tommy Cavanaugh (Richard T. Jones), the original cop who investigated the murder but was unceremoniously forced off the case. Working with them is Sara Morton (Natalia Tena), a brilliant engineer whose relationship with Tanner goes beyond professional; Josh Novak (Blake Lee), a talented, nerdy-cool head programmer; and Tariq Bakari (Jake Matthews), a tech genius and expert hacker with issues adhering to the rules. Concerned with Tanner's obsession is his successful ex-wife, Congresswoman Alex Hale (Monica Potter), with whom he shares an unbreakable bond over their shared grief. As Tanner taps into the "wisdom of the crowd," his unexpected success fuels his determination to solve even more cases than just the one that's personal to him.

Staycation

Soon it will be the end of the summer months and maybe you might just want to squeeze in one last vacation. Either you don’t have enough money to take another long vacation or enough time.  We have a suggestion for you.  How about a Staycation?

A Staycation, is when you stay home and explore the city where you live. Are there any places where you live that you have always wanted to go visit and never do.  Well, if you and your family have at least one day off then you can should plan this.  It would be better if you have one weekend to take a vacation but all you need is a day.

If you are not sure what is there is to do or see in the city where you live, then go to your state or city’s Official Visitor and Tourism Bureau’s website.   Why not call them.  They can customize your itinerary.  They can also help you with any special needs or interests you might have. The people who work there also live in your city and can tell you about places that might not be on their website. Maybe you can find out about places in your city that you never knew about.

You can also go to your local AAA office and get some travel books and maps for free.  If you don’t have an office near by then you can look at their website.

Maybe you would love to know the history of your city but not sure where to begin.  Then contact your local Historical Society.  They will be able to tell what you should go see.

Is there a local museum or zoo that you have always wanted to visit but just haven’t found the time? Why not go now.

This should be a good time to go an amusement park in a long time. The lines will be getting shorter as the summer tourist season ends.

If you can’t afford a big amusement park then how about a visit to a county fair? It is less money than an amusement park.

If you don’t want to do the Staycation and want to go out of town you can.  You might not be able to afford to go far, then you should check the official verified social media pages of your favorite airlines.  They always have special deals called, “Flash Sales.”  That is when they have a few tickets left on a flight and will sell it to for a really cheap price.  Sometimes it is less than $100.  There is a catch.  They are usually  less than an hour flight and are for specific dates and times. It can’t be worth it if you are not particular. Jet Blue and Southwest always have these “Flash Sales.”  You will still have to pay for a hotel but the closer we get to Labor Day Weekend the prices of a hotel should be going down because it is the end of the summer tourist season.

You don’t have to go anywhere or do anything.  You can stay home and pretend you are staying at a hotel. You don’t even have to cook and get all your food delivered.  This is your time to relax.

Whatever you decided to do please share your adventure with us.
