This weekend some of you will be celebrating either Passover or Easter. Passover is the 8 day holiday when the people of the Jewish Faith commemorates when they were free from slavery. The first two days of the holiday there are two Seders. That is when they tell read the Haggadah which tell story of how Moses made Pharaoh free the slaves. After the story is read there is a dinner with family and friends. This is the holiday where certain foods are not allowed to be consumed for 8 days. That is bread. Instead they will eat Matzo. There are many things that you can make with Matzo. We will show you how to make Matzo Brei. It is the Jewish version of French Toast. This is perfect for a Sunday Brunch.
Easter is the holiday when the people of Christian faith celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Some will go to church for Sunrise Service then come home for and Easter Brunch. We have some suggestions for brunch. The easiest things to make is a Breakfast Casserole and Cheesy Potatoes. If you want you can serve these for Passover too. We will tell you how.
If you have any vegan friends who will be coming to your brunch we have a suggestion for a rice salad. The only suggestion we have for your vegan friends for the Passover brunch is just regular salad.
We also have some suggestions for movies to watch for these holidays. The Disney Channel will be playing the movie Hop. This movie blends animation with live action. It is about Easter Bunny legacy. It stars Russell Brand as the voice of EB, who is son of the Easter Bunny. EB doesn't want to follow in the family legacy. He wants to be a musician. He leaves Easter Island to go pursue what he wants. He meets Fred O'Hare (James Marsden), who is a human. Fred is currently unemployed and not sure what he wants to do. When he was young he saw EB’s father delivering the candy and always a curiosity about the bunny. Watch the movie to see what happens.
The movie suggestion for Passover is a cartoon possibly from your childhood, A Rugrats Passover.
What ever you will be doing this weekend just have a good time. You don’t need to celebrate either holiday to enjoy the food.
