HAPPY HOLIDAYS 2018

Happy Holidays!!! This blog is for people who do not have plans for the rest of this holiday season.  We have an idea for you, if for some reason, this year, are you not able to be near your family and friends.  Maybe they no longer live near you, and you can’t afford to fly to them or they can’t come to you.  It could also be sadly, that your family has passed away.  What you can do is find other people who are in the same situation as you and see if they are interested in spending the holidays with you.  You could start a new tradition and make a new friend.  There could be people who you live near or work with who don’t have family and friends nearby.  Find them and see if they are interested in having a party.

Maybe you already know some people who are alone this holiday season and looking for something to do.  There is no shame in being alone and not wanting to anything. Just maybe they are alone because no one ever asked them to a holiday party.  If you ask and they still say no, don’t push yourself on them.  They just want some quiet time.  That is just fine.  You are looking for the people who actually want to have something to do. Do you know any elderly people who family doesn’t live nearby?  Then ask them because they might not like being alone. If you live in an apartment building, then ask your landlord if they know of anyone or if you are allowed to post a flyer. If you live in a house, then you might know your neighbors who are alone. At work if you have a human resources department, you should go to them and ask them if they know of anyone in your place of business, who might be alone and might want some new friend.  Only do this if you are allowed.  Some businesses don’t allow you to associate with people outside of work.

What you should do is host a potluck party.  Potluck parties are easy because you don’t have to do much cooking. You make sure each person brings a different dish to the party.  You can have each person bring one traditional dish that they have with their family. You can cook but you should buy all the beverages. Have at least 4 to 10 people.  Keep it small.  Just make this easy for you.

We just want to wish you Happy Holidays.  Whatever you do we hope you have a good time and come back and share with us what you did.  Just remember, don’t drink and drive we want you all around for 2019.

A WINTER POTLUCK GET TOGETHER PARTY

We hope you are having a good winter.  This time of year you might want to host a party with your friends just as a casual get together.  Whether it is to watch the Super Bowl or one of the award shows that might be on television.  It could be just a weekend party but you don’t want to do much cooking.  You could host a potluck party where each of your friends could bring one dish and you serve an entree.  Maybe you can make the side dishes  We have some suggestions of what you could serve.

Here is a recipe from Delish and Judy Kim from The Judy Lab, Sweet 'N Sour Cauliflower Recipe.  We like this because it makes cauliflower tastes great.
