A WINTER POTLUCK GET TOGETHER PARTY

We hope you are having a good winter.  This time of year you might want to host a party with your friends just as a casual get together.  Whether it is to watch the Super Bowl or one of the award shows that might be on television.  It could be just a weekend party but you don’t want to do much cooking.  You could host a potluck party where each of your friends could bring one dish and you serve an entree.  Maybe you can make the side dishes  We have some suggestions of what you could serve.

Here is a recipe from Delish and Judy Kim from The Judy Lab, Sweet 'N Sour Cauliflower Recipe.  We like this because it makes cauliflower tastes great.

Pet Adoption

PET ADOPTION
February 5, 2017, is not only Super Bowl Sunday but it is also the day that the Puppy Bowl is on Animal Planet and the Kitten Bowl is on the Hallmark Channel.  Don’t forget to watch those programs too.  You will see adorable animals playing.

Just know that all of the dogs and cats that you see on the show are up for adoption. Yes they are all adorable and you might want to get one or two but before you do just take a step back and see if you are ready to be a pet parent. Do you have the time it takes to give these animals the love and attention they need?  It take a lot of time and energy to raise them. Make sure your home is a safe place for an animal to live.  Is there enough room for both you and your new family member to live.  If you live in apartment are you allowed to have pets Will there be enough space for all of you? Is there a pet park near by if you have a dog in an apartment so they can have time to run around outside? If you live in a house does your backyard have a fence that is secure so your pet can’t get out? Just know your backyard should be a place they can play and not live 24/7.  If you can’t have the pet in your home then maybe you aren’t ready for one.

If you are ready to welcome a pet into your home here is where you can find them:

For the Puppy Bowl players:

The starting line up:

For the Kitten Bowl players:

The starting line up:

Here are some other shelters that you can look for the newest member of your family:

Petfinder

North Shore Animal League

Bideawee

ASPCA

Best Friends Animal Society

Marleys Mutt

Last Hope Animal Rescue

Now once you bring your new family member home they will need some supplies.  They need food, bowl, toys, blankets, etc. You can get them at either of these stores.  They have people there than can help you with any questions you might have.

Petsmart

Petco

You can also get your pet’s food delivered.

Chewy.com

If you can’t adopt an animal you can always donate some money to the shelters. They can always use your help.

If you have adopted an pet please share your photos with us.

Super Bowl Sunday

As you may know, on Sunday, the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos will play in Super Bowl 50. This will air on CBS.  Some of you may even be planning a Super Bowl Party.  We will give you some suggestions on what you can serve at your party.

First make sure you have enough snacks for everyone to eat. The basic ones are popcorn, potato chips, nacho chips, pita chip.

Simple Truth Popcorn

Orville Redenbacher's

Kettle Chips

Tostito’s Nacho Chips

Stacy Pita Chips

FritoLay has some Gluten Free products.

You will also need some dips.  Here are few that you might want to serve.

Classic Lipton’s Soup Onion Dip

Wholly Guacamole Dip

Tostitos Salsa Dip

Don’t forget to serve some cut veggies to go with the dips too.

You should serve some of Farm Rich’s appetizers

Instead of serving a huge submarine sandwich, why not just have everyone make their own smaller ones.  You can either order a platter from your local delicatessen or get store bought pre-packaged meats and cheeses. It is your choice. Then get mini sub sandwich bread.  Don’t forget some lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and other veggies you would want to put on it. Then have the different condiments.  Make sure you have some vegetarian pre-package  deli. This way your vegetarian don’t feel left out.

This is a recipe for Hot Dogs and Baked Beans.  This is quicker than making chili because it doesn’t take that long to cook.

For dessert you can get a platter of fruit or cookies.

You may have some people at your party who might not like the Super Bowl but just wanted to come for the food.  If you have room set up another TV in another room so they can watch the “Puppy Bowl,” the “Kitten Bowl” or even this year they have the “Fish Bowl.”

Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl

Hallmark Channel Kitten Bowl

National Geographic Fish Bowl

They might even want to watch The Blind Side.”  This movie is inspired by the adoption story of Carolina Panther’s Michael Oher.

Whatever you are having a party or attending a party please do not drink and drive.  We want you to be around for Monday.
